Classic Hollywood Model Photography

Another session from the Classic Hollywood photoshoot. I’ve been wanting to do more classic Hollywood style photoshoots, and started planning the session back in December to put together a photoshoot in January. We did a marathon session with several non-professional models, Shantay Rose for makeup and hair stylist Bailey L. I showed Shantay and Bailey some classic Hollywood images to give them some ideas of what I had in mind, and then they just ran with it. Classic Hollywood portraits were different from today’s sessions by using primarily bare lights, (no umbrellas or softboxes,) and obviously no strobes. In order to recreate this look, I followed the same method in my studio, ditching all my softboxes and using only regular (non-strobe) lighting for everything. Really happy with the look this achieved.
Jordan was the next of our models and was finalizing her hair and makeup while I was finishing up Emily‘s pix. Jordan has these wonderful cat-like eyes and I tried to feature those in many of the shots. She was a little nervous at first, but relaxed a lot during the shoot and really did a great job with the classic poses I was putting her through.
