Modeling session with Jade in downtown Riverside. I’m always pushing to learn new techniques and styles. Often, that leads me back to study the classic artists of the photographic genre. Lately, I’ve been appreciating the works of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Alfred Eisenstaedt and Ruth Orkin. Their work was incredible; simple, but capturing the time and setting perfectly. I wanted to recreate that mid-century European vibe with this session. I reached out to Jade, (actually Jade’s mother,) to do this session. We selected what I felt were appropriate clothes and accessories and then spent a couple of hours wandering around downtown Riverside looking for sites that felt (at least, to me) European. For this session, Jade was perfect. As an actor, she needed just some simple prompts about the role she was playing and she understood quickly what I was trying to achieve. Jade was very patient as I pushed her through multiple settings, poses, etc. Here’s some of my favorite images from this session.
